Primary Health workers in the employ of Ondo State government caught engaging in shady deals would be severely dealt with.

Executive Secretary, Ondo State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Francis Akanbiemu gave the warning while speaking with The Hope in Akure.

Reacting to an allegation against some primary  health workers, he frowned at the illegal collection of money from the age group outside the formidable group covered for free health  at the Primary Health Care level saying, such won’t be tolerated by government.

While condemning the act, he said; “there has been this issue at the facility level whereby payment are made without following the rules and regulations even for cases that require little payment especially for those outside the formidable age (that is under five children and pregnant women) covered by free health.

“Henceforth, anybody found collecting money without issuing receipt will face the wrath of the law.

“If we pursue this, illegal collection of money will stop because the receipts are security documents.”

While speaking further, he hinted that a circular has been issued in respect of that and it will be followed up for effective monitoring and supervision.

He added that the board has developed a software; ‘Comcare’ which according to him is electronically developed to enable effective monitoring of facilities in the Primary Health care centres.

His words; “for our monitoring, we use Comcare and we act on it. The software captures where the user is and sends required information immediately.”
