The security track record and the template formulated by the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will help to tackle the spate of insecurity bedeviling the country.

The Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for Ondo Central Senatorial District, Mr. Ayotunde Bally made the remarks during an interactive session with people of Idanre Local Government and the coalition of Christian Leaders in Politics in collaboration with Yoruba Young Christian Leaders Forum, South-West Region, in Akure.

He said Tinubu should be given the opportunity to end insecurity in the country based on his track record particularly in the area of security when he was the governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007.

According to him, Tinubu is the only presidential candidate that has the wherewithal to end insecurity in the country due to his unprecedented achievements in the sector.

In a bid to reinvigorate the Lagos State Police Command, he said the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), came on stream in 1999 during his administration as a child of necessity, with a clear mandate to fight crime and make the state habitable for the citizenry and uninhabitable for unscrupulous criminal elements terrorising the state.

He added that the RRS is a section of the Lagos State Police Command set up by Asiwaju to respond speedily to emergencies within Lagos State.

“Today, the governors who are the Chief Security Officers of their states are clamouring for the State Policing system, to effectively fight the daunting task of insecurity  in the country, as the current centralised police formation system can not curtail the hydra-headed issue.

“The reformation to curb the activities of criminals led to the conversion of Ita Oko Prisoners Camp into a Youth Skill Acquisition Centre.

“The RRS is now the most performing police force in Nigeria. To make things work, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu created the Lagos Security Trust Fund where the private sector come together to invest in Lagos security in conjunction with the government.

“On the need to build on security template of Tinubu to safeguard the South West against the activities of the criminal elements and all forms of crimes against the people of the region, the six governors in Southwest established Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) codenamed Operation Amotekun based in the zone responsible for curbing insecurity in the region.

“Today, among the six geo-political zones in the country, South West is the  safest and most secured zone; and this is connected to the security foundational structure and road map laid down by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in taking the security of lives and property of his people as primacy when he was governor of Lagos.

“It is now evident that if allowed to become Nigeria’s next president, Tinubu’s security track record and the template formulated will help us to tackle the spate of insecurity bedevilling the country, “Bally stated.

He, therefore, advised them not to allow other candidates without track record to hoodwink them that they can solve the issue of insecurity in Nigeria.
