A yet-to-be-identified middle-aged man was electrocuted while attempting to steal transformer cables on the premises of Ondo State Water Cooperation, Oke-Eda, Akure.

The deceased, who was suspected of attempting to steal electricity cables from the transformer, met his Waterloo when power was suddenly restored.

The Hope Metro reports that the lifeless body of the man was found hanging on the transformer in the early hours of Thursday by the staff of the Corporation.

The staff, on resuming work on Thursday, were reported to have traced an ill and offensive odour to the location of the transformer in the compound.

An eyewitness said the body of the deceased had already turned back, with his tongue stuck out, while he held two of the wires suspected to have electrocuted him.

With the decomposing body of the deceased, the source assumed that the unfortunate incident must have happened a few days ago.

An eyewitness who spoke with our correspondent, on a condition of anonymity, said she had been perceiving the bad odour since a few days ago, thinking it was from a rotten rodent.

” But to our utmost surprise, we discovered the ill-fated man lifeless this early morning, when we traced the odour to the location of the transformer inside the bush.

“These vandals have been terrorizing this town for a while, stealing cables from the transformer and leaving us in darkness. l thank God one of them has met his Waterloo” she said.

Our correspondent learnt that security men had to put a call across to some health officials from the Ministry, who evacuated his remains to the morgue.
