The Akoko Unity Cup competition was the initiative of the Chairmen of Local Football Councils of Akoko North East, Akoko North West, Akoko South West and Akoko South East for the purpose of fostering unity in the area. And also to engender grassroots football development in the four Akoko Local Governments.

The final match played at the United Church Primary School’s playing ground, Ibaram/Ikaram-Akoko attracted football lovers from within and outside Akoko.

The proprietor of the silver winning side, Odomode Lacrown Football Academy and financier of the Unity Cup, Chief Odomode Adeyemi Lacrown, while presenting trophy to the winners commended Ologbese FA for its extraordinary performance at the competition.
