The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on former Deputy Governor and PDP candidate in the last governorship election, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, to desist from politicising security issues in the state.
In a statement issued by the Director of Media & Publicity, Mr. Steve Otaloro, the APC emphasised that insecurity is a national challenge, not exclusive to Ondo State.
He stated that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa inherited a complex security landscape and has taken proactive steps to address it.
According to Otaloro, the governor has strengthened the Amotekun Corps and improved collaboration between security agencies and community leaders, leading to a reduction in crime. He criticised Ajayi for allegedly making politically motivated statements and spreading unverified information about the state’s security budget, warning that such remarks could undermine government efforts and embolden criminals.
The APC urged Ajayi to adopt a more responsible approach and join hands in fostering a secure environment, rather than using security concerns for political gain.
The party reaffirmed its support for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s security initiatives and called on all stakeholders to contribute to the safety and well-being of Ondo State residents.
