Ondo State Commandant, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Command, Dr Akinwumi Gideon, has applauded the state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, for his various youth empowerment initiatives aimed at making the youth self-reliant and employers of labour.
The security expert explained that apart from the numerous life transforming infrastructural projects across the state, he commended the governor for his deliberate efforts to train young entrepreneurs and make them employers of labour, thereby contributing their quotas to economic development.
Gideon who spoke in Akure at a free employment/skill acquisition programme he organised for 100 youths, noted that the programme was to complement Governor Akeredolu’s efforts at training young entrepreneurs and make them financially free.
He explained that the #EndSARS protest and the COVID-19 pandemic experienced in the year 2020 have negatively affected the economy, hence skill acquisition programme and entrepreneurship development remained a veritable tool for economic revitalization and rejuvenation.
The security expert who is also the National Director of training and academics for advance institute of professional security and intelligence studies, said the institute would continue to offer free entrepreneurship trainings for unemployed youths to assist government in reducing unemployment rate and curb crimes in the society.
The beneficiaries were trained in installation of CCTV camera and maintenance, GSM/GPRS/GPS car tracker installation as well as auto-diagnostic device operation.
According to Gideon, there are over 30 million unemployed youths in the country including graduates, and no society could develop in such a terrible situation, hence the need for serious and sustained entrepreneurship programmes to provide jobs and make the youths employers of labour rather than looking for nonexisting white collar jobs.
The security expert encouraged government at all levels, political leaders, philanthropists and well meaning individuals to sponsor such a programme as veritable empowerment tools for their constituents to earn their living and be financially free, adding that he is ready to partner government or individuals to reduce unemployment rate in the society.
