An Akure-based engagement director, Mrs Folorunso Oluwabunmi popularly known as Bestway has said that single ladies should not be not allowed to anchor engagement saying they have no experience to share .
According to her, passion and love for directing engagement ceremonies made her to achieve a lot in the business.
Oluwabunmi mentioned some of the challenges she faced at her early stage of her career, saying in a programme where musicians are invited they would not allow alaga to perform because of their selfish interest.
During an interview with Friday Extravaganza, Oluwabunmi narrated how she was motivated by one of her friend Mrs Alimi to anchor an engagement ceremony about 10 years ago.
She disclosed how she became an alaga and how God favoured her in the business.
The alaga who hailed from Ire in Oye local government area of Ekiti State, said the large number of people who engage her services made her to develop more interest in the engagement business.
She noted that charging for engagement depends on distance, and capability of the family, saying these are the considerations, as there is no fixed charge for an engagement ceremony.
She noted that engagement is a lucrative business that made her to stand out among her equal, saying if any alaga knows her way in the business, she would succeed.
According to her, if an alaga love what she is doing with passion, she would be remembered by her clients, and such person would get referral because people love her job.
Oluwabunmi narrated how she climbed to the top in the business and how she started noting that whatever people know how to do, they should do it well.
She urged ladies to keep themselves pure till their wedding day, adding that they should not allow any man to deceive them and take away their joy from them.
She mentioned one of her secondary school teacher, Mrs Adebayo Atinuke, as her mentor that introduced the job to her, and since then God has been her inspiration.
She stated that her aim in anchoring Alaga Iduro and Ijoko is to make people happy and to become great artiste in the world.
She advised alaga to be conscious of time and not end up making the engagement boring for the audience.
