Teenager docked over robbery, attempted rape,

A 19-year-old man, Abiodun  Fisayo. Adebanji , is currently standing trial at an Owo Chief Magistrate’s Court for robbery and attempt to rape one Florence Solaja.

Adeyanji was said to have committed the offence on September 28, at about 3.45 am at an hotel situated at Isuwada Junction, along Owo/Akure highway.

The accused, who is facing a four-count charge was said to have unlawfully assaulted the victim, one Florence Solaja, with intent to have carnal knowledge of her.

He was also said to have robbed the victim of the sum of N30,000.00 and a Tecno Smart 7 phone at gun point, and thereafter demanded the sum of N100,000.00 from her at about 3.50 pm on September 30 at Wema Bank, Owo.

The charge sheet read, “That you,  Abiodun   Adebanji on September 28, 2022, at about 3.45 am at L88 Hotel, along Isuada Express Road, Owo, in the Owo Magisterial District unlawfully assault one Salaja Florence ‘f’ with intent to have carnal knowledge of her against the order of nature and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 352 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Laws of Ondo State, 206.”

“That you,  Abiodun Fisayo Adebanji, on same date, time and place, did rob one Salaja Florence ‘Solaja ‘f’ of the sum of N30,000.00,  and Smart 7 Tecno handset at gunpoint and thereby commited an offence contrary to Sections  401 and  402 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Laws of Ondo 2006.

The plea of the accused person was not taken when the charges were read to him.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Edu Owolabi, however, asked for adjournment to prepare his case.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs W.O. Dosumu, while granting the application of the prosecution, adjourned the case till October 10, for hearing to commence.
