Theo Adebowale buried amidst encomiums

The rank and file of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko was literally moved to Owo, Friday as the remains of one of its own, Theo Adebowale, teacher and social commentator was laid to rest.
The Vice Chancellor and the Registrar of the institution, Prof Olugbenga Ige and Mr Olugbenga Arajulu led other management staff, senior academics and general staff to the event.
At the funeral service held at the Living Faith Church, Owo, Pastor Omoniyi Atere in his sermon admonished the congregation to always consider their eventual end by living right and shunning evil.
He gave a glowing testimony to a life well spent by the deceased.
Present at the service included Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who was represented by the Chairman of Owo Local Government, Olabande Adegbegi.
Also in attendance were representatives of the civil societies, students and friends
Earlier at the funeral service, the Minister of Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) International, Otapete, Owo, Pastor Atire Omoniyi enjoined guests to remember their last day and do the needful before death comes knocking .
The cleric who said we should allow the word of God to be our guide in our daily affairs said it is natural to grieve when we lose our loved ones but must be done in line with Christianity.
He therefore charged Christians to always look up to God for comfort and relief in the state of sorrow.
Elder Theophilus was later interned at his house along Ikare road , Owo.
Speaking on the life and time of the deceased, Chairman, Owo Local Government, Chief Olabande Adegbegi described his death as a great loss to the academia, political environment and Owo as a community. Adegbegi who represented Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at the occasion said Elder Theophilus will forever be remembered for his contributions to academics and politics.
“Dr Adebowale was a great figure, he was a great political figure. He participated so significantly during our first term and he was also a great lecturer at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko”.
In his own comment, the Registrar of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ralph Olugbenga Arajulu described Adebowale as an academic giant who imparted greatly on students and other members of the academic world.
” Dr Adebowale was a friend, brother and an academic giant. He was a great man who made his mark both in the academia and politics ”
Arajulu described the deceased as a man who lived for the people especially the downtrodden and the commoners.
A son to the deceased, Mayowa Adebowale described his late father as a loving and caring person, disciplinarian who stood by his children throughout his lifetime.
Mayowa said the children will forever miss the fatherly attributes of the man they call their hero.
