Another tragedy occurred yesterday at the popular Okerigbo hill black spot in Akungba Akoko as a truck carrying spaghetti crushed one person to death.

The Hope Metro gathered that the trailer loaded with goods was trying to ascend the hill, but suddenly surged backward and tumbled.

This is coming less than two weeks after an articulated trailer could not also climb the hill, but surged backward, crushing to death a commercial motorcyclist at its rear.

A large crowd seen wearing mournful looks gathered at the scene and condemned the incessant incidents in the area which they said have claimed  several lives while others sustained various degrees of severe injuries.

According to an eyewitness, a trailer heavily loaded with goods was heading towards Ikare Akoko when suddenly it returned as it was unable to climb the hill.

The truck was said to have tumbled in the process before it rammed into the roadside gauge killing one person.

The eyewitness said a person was discovered dead at the scene while an injured leg of one of the victims was also seen on the floor.

When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer of  Akungba Akoko Police Division, CSP Shakiru Ajibola and the Ikare Unit commander of FRSC, Mr Oluropo Alabi, confirmed the accident.

He said they could not give the details of the accident yet, but that  their men had moved to the scene for rescue operation.

Residents and people of the community who lamented the incidents said Akungba Akoko is gradually becoming a town of horror with repeated news of truck crashes occurring every week.

A resident of the town,. Mr Ado Adeboye said only one person has been confirmed dead for now while many were injured as at the time of filing this report.

It will be recalled that on January 2021 at the same dreaded hill, no fewer than 16 persons marjory students of AAUA and residents of the community were crushed to death by an articulated vehicle belonging to a Cement Company very close to Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.

The driver of the trailer reportedly lost control and rammed into five shops killing everyone on the way.
