Two docked over theft

Two persons, Victor Nangun, 23, Oseni Abdulhamidu, 34, have been arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft.

The defendants who were alleged of stealing, committed the offence on April 15, 2023 at about 1:00pm at ljapo Housing Estate, Akure, Ondo State.

The police prosecutor, Nelson Akintimehin informed the court that the defendants stole 25 iron rods valued N180,000, property of one Tanimola Johnson.

Akintimehin also said Abdulhamidu on the same date, around 4:00pm at Sabo, Area, Stadium road, Akure unlawfully received 25 iron rods from  Nangun which he knew it was a stolen property.

The offence committed is contrary to and punishable under Section 516, 390(9), 427 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The defendants who were charged for conspiracy and stealing pleaded not guilty to the offence leveled against them.

The prosecutor, therefore sought for an adjournment to enable him study the case file.

Chief Magistrate Musa Al-Yunus in his ruling granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

He, thereafter, adjourned the case till May 23, 2023 for hearing.
