As the calendar turns to 2025, it brings a renewed sense of hope, motivation, and the promise of fresh opportunities. For many, the new year is not just a time for resolutions but also a chance to envision a better future and set actionable goals.
From career advancements to personal growth, spiritual development, and financial breakthroughs, individuals from various walks of life are embracing the possibilities the year holds. Some Nigerians shared their new year aspirations with Weekend Hope.

Salim Mustapha

I have big goals this year. I think this year will bring more changes than any other previous years of my life. Let me tell you something I’ve never said out loud before:

My goals and aspirations in life are to become a  successful person, get a good job and be able to get married and buy a house and car IN SHAA ALLAH

This year, I am making positive choices about the things I choose to keep around me, ensuring that everything in my life goes smoothly.

Awodeji Damilola

2025, my aspiration for the year is getting closer to God by means of prayer, fasting, meditating and service. And to explore new things. I have been an introvert all this while. I’m hoping in the year 2025 to meet relevant and good-minded people, learn new things and give because I realize one thing about giving, the more you give the more you receive.
In the year 2025, I plan to seek new adventures and learn a trade.

Dauda Misturah

For the new year, I’m hoping to build myself more career-wise and establish myself. I’m hoping that I can gather more skills, more knowledge, especially in advertising and journalism, because I’m trying to grow and also get multiple streams of income. It is important, with the way our economy is growing, to have multiple streams of income and I’m hoping that I can do this in the new year.
Also, I’m open to experimentation, trying new things, new food, meeting new people and also networking.

Moshood Abd Muiz

My goals for the year include, becoming a chartered accountant, travelling to at least six different states in Nigeria, securing a job as a consultant with one of the big four companies, acquiring my own apartment, and earning my first million.

Zakariyah Yasir

As we step into the new year, I aspire to continue learning and growing both personally and professionally. My goal is to take on new challenges, develop new skills, and become a better version of myself.
I also hope to prioritize my health and wellness by adopting a consistent exercise routine and balanced diet.
I also hope this year raises me up financially.

Labisi Niniola Kamal

After spending last year acquiring skills through courses, I plan to take my career seriously this year, focusing on marketing, and utilizing the NYSC scheme and my assigned PPA to build my skills in areas like graphic design and analytics, before launching into my career.

Tunji-Bello Oyelowo

I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions, but after achieving two out of three to four goals last year, I’m trying again. This year, my top goals are to land a well-paying job and upgrade my phone, with an overall aim to improve myself from last year.

Mubarak Pakoyi

My Aspiration for the new year is to achieve what I have been dreaming to be and to get all what I lacked the previous year, be it Intellectually, financially or spiritually.
To be a better version of myself and be more useful to humanity.

Ajoke Aremu

Concerning this year 2025, I do not set many goals because I have 2024 goals that haven’t been achieved.
So, this year, I plan on achieving the previous year’s goals and working towards a better future for myself and family.
And also trusting God to guide my path.

As the new year begins, I’ve reflected on my aspirations. For me, it’s not about becoming a new person, but being a better version of myself. I’ve written down my goals, and I’ll focus on two key areas.
Firstly, I aim to practise self-discipline. This means saying ‘no’ when required, keeping to time, doing my work on schedule, sticking to my savings plan, and beating procrastination.
Secondly, I want to build consistency in my daily routine, religious activities, and showing up for myself and my business. Consistency is key to achieving my goals.
By focusing on these two areas, I’m confident that by the end of the year, I’ll be a better version of myself.

Amusa Faridat

My aspiration for the new year is to grow professionally. I have just transitioned from being a campus journalist to a professional journalist. And I intend to spend the year building my portfolio, embarking on projects, writing stories, and doing documentaries. Yeah, professionally, I want to get better.
