Driver drown in Osun river

A truck driver, identified as Sheriff has reportedly drowned while taking his bath at Osun River in Ede.
The deceased, whose address was not provided was said to have stopped at the river bank to clean up after delivering the contents of the trruck when the unfortunate incident occurred
As at the time of filing this report, efforts by security agencies, including the people of the town to recover the corpse of the driver whose body was still missing were abortive.
This ugly situation, The Hope Metro gathered has thrown resident’s , friends, and members of the Tipper Owners Association into mournful mood as they kept searching for his body.
.According to an eyewitness who preferred anonymity, the deceased on getting to the bank of Osun river slipped off the river bank and got drown immediately.
“He had not started bathing. He was about to bend and start bathing when he slipped and fell into the river,” the witness said.
The eyewitness added that immediately the incident happened, the people at the scene made efforts to save Sheriff, but till Saturday afternoon, the body had not been recovered.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident.
She said rescue team had been raised both by the family, police and fire service in search of the body of the driver.
As at the time of filling this report, efforts by the people and his team to save his life had proved abortive as his body was yet to be recovered from the river.
Further findings revealed that men of the State Fire Service and traditional divers have been contacted to search for his body.
