Ex- convict returns to prison over burglary

A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Akure has ordered the remand of a serial burglar, Adeola Ojo at Olokuta Correctional Centre over alleged burglary and stealing.
Twenty-four year Ojo, it was learnt, was just released from the prison.
The police arraigned him before the court on five counts of stealing and burglary, which he entered a not guilty plea.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence at about 9:00p.m on May 1, 2022 at Seebi Zone B Layout, beside Acts of Apostle Church, Akure.
The prosecutor, Insp.Simon Wada, said the defendant broke into a house and stole a laptop valued at N220,000, a Tecno Pop 4 handset valued at forty-five naira and the sum of N450,000, belonging to one Okafor Faith.
Wada also alleged that the defendant, on same day, stole a necklace worth N180,000., body cream that valued at four thousand naira, a Tecno handset that valued at N49,000 and a sum of one thousand naira of one Okafor Justus.
The offence committed contravenes Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 vol I, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria,2006.
Wada urged the court to refuse the defendant bail, saying, he is an hardened criminal and that he had just been released from the Correctional Center over similar offence.
The Magistrate, D. S Sekoni, in his ruling granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Sekoni added that the defendant should remain in the prison till his bail conditions were met.
He adjourned the case till the June 2, 2022 for hearing.
